Car Alarms/TDS alarm on 1998 4runner
I had to replace the entire ignition bracket/new switch/and key mechanism etc due to a part breaking. All that is together but now
I cant get the TDS alarm system to stop going off. I tried doing the re-set valet mode procedure etc.. but I can never get light
to completely go solid as it states it should in book. This
is killing the circuit to start truck from what I can tell.
Would it be safe to remove entire alarm system? Or is there
another way to bypass it
1. I've drove this for 4 years now with no remotes//never used alarm. Purchased and other owner never used alarm or had remotes.
ANSWER: Describe the steps used to go into Valet mode.
installer will place a valet/override switch
under the dash area, or if it's also a remote
starter, there would be an antenna on the windshield.
Inset into most of these would be the override
switch as well.
Then the sequence should be:
KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN THE BUTTON FOR
APPROX. 5-6 SECONDS UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONSE
FROM THE SIREN AND THE LIGHTS.
TURN OFF KEY.
THIS WOULD BE OVERRIDE OR "VALET MODE."
REPEAT THESE STEPS TO GO INTO USER MODE.
If this is not working, extraction and repair is next.
You can get the vehicle's wiring at my site www.CARPROTECTOR.com
to do this project correctly.

QUESTION: Thanks so much... I'll what you mentioned. As far if it comes to extraction/removal. If we get it removed is there any thing that would
impact us getting it back to just a factory key started vehicle that
you might save me some headache time on... Lord knows I've been working'
on this for a week now and at this point would have to tow it somewhere
You can affect repair immediately.
There is a starter kill relay inline.
My notes show how to remove, repair and restore it
including wire colors under the dash for the ignition.
Then once removed, it all goes back to factory spec.
But really, by just unplugging the brain box from it's
wiring plugs and repairing the starter would be just fine and
allow you to ignore it as usual. If it had keyless entry,
it won't any longer.
