Question Hey Justin,
I was recently told that in order to hook up my Rockford Fosgate amplifier to my car without buying a new cd player, that i could use a line output converter to get the audio signal. Now i am only running to subs so i wouldnt need more than a two channel converter. I was wondering however, if this is the best option for hooking up my amp, and if so, how much should i spend on the converter and what brand is recomended.
Thanks, Max
Answer Hi Max,
Yes, that is your best option if your OEM car stereo is what you want to use and it doesn't feature a low-level output (almost no oem decks do).
Russound and Scosche are reasonable brands to consider, but the electronics involved in making a converter isn't exactly rocket science, so I wouldn't be overly concerned with quality. A reasonable pricetag would peg these at or under $50 at the absolute most (probably closer to 25-30).
Justin
