Question
Hi, I was wondering if you would assit me on installing my jvc aftermarket stereo into my 2003 mitsubshi eclipse gts. I understand there is a amp running to the stock speakers. Wouldnt the wattage from my jvc headunit be able to power the speakers better and or is there an easy way to do this. I also have 2 12' subwoofers and a eclipse amp i want to instal after winter...

Answer
Hi Rob,

If you buy the correct wiring harness, then the amplifier should just work with the JVC headunit by using its preouts to power the factory amplifier.

You could rewire the speakers directly to the deck, but that would be a lot of work, and the head unit has no chance of being as powerful as the amplifier.  The deck is only capable of something like 16w per channel RMS.

Expertise

I can answer questions about the electronics and mathematics behind car stereos, provide information on locating wires, wire interference, gauges, etc. Since they're almost entirely subjective, asking questions about brand names may not result in the most useful answers.

Experience

I've been installing car stereos for friends and family (albeit not professionally) for 8 or 9 years. My knowledge lies mostly in the math and technical aspects: impedance, required gauges, fuse levels, frequency response, etc.
