Question
Would a Masters Degree in Strategic Leadership help me in the future? I have 16 years of sales and management experience. I would use the degree to obtain a new job in a competitive job market.

Answer
Gary,

Given the assumption, that maybe you have not been actively engaged in any formal education program in 16 years, and I could be completely incorrect in my thinking, a master's degree could serve you well.

I would, regardless of your intent to be competitive, get very clear on they type of masters program to enroll in.  They are not all created equally.  A master's degree in Strategic Leadership might serve you well, I am not doubting this, but it really depends on what type of job opportunities you might seek.  If you are looking to stay in management, a MBA program might serve your needs better OR even a masters in accounting or management.

Maybe your goal might be to teach on the college-level.  If your goal is to become a college professor, then you may want to pursue a more terminal degree path.

I believe once you get clearer on your objectives post-masters, then you should strategically move into a program that best fits those goals.

Best of luck to you in all of your career planning & management endeavors!
