Question
Hello Mr. Arnold,

Greetings for the day.

I have done MBA HR (regular) from IP University (Delhi, India) and also am having 2 years of experience in HR (Specially in Recruitment). Now, I want to do some specialized courses (while working) which can add value to resume and also enhance my knowledge in new concepts like Competency Mapping, Employee Relations, HR audits. I want to excel in Generalist HR.

What is Certificate in Global Human Resource all about...??

Please guide me!!

Regard,
Pankaj

Answer
Pankaj:

As a former HR professional myself, I am most interested in assisting fellow HR professionals excel in the profession.  With that, I am not familiar with a "certificate in global human resources".  Just to take a stab at it, I would assume that it is a certificate course that provides an overview to global HR that deals with US professionals working in other countries and vice versa.  Other key areas that this certificate might deal with is compensation, recruitment of expatriates, and repatriation.  I think this would be a really valuable certificate if you are looking to work specifically in this niche area within the HR field.

Based on your question, it sounds as if you are interested in becoming a generalist.  If this is the case, I would suggest that to get "the most bang for your bucks", you will want to look at sitting for the PHR certification.  It is administered through HRCI and very well recognized in the field.

Check it out for yourself by googling, "PHR certification" so that you can learn more about requirements to sit for the certification.

Best of luck to you as you build and grow in the HR profession!

Successfully yours,

Torski
