Career Planning/Career Info. Help
Expert: Sharon Reed Abboud - 6/11/2008
QuestionI am currently a senior in high school and I found an area of interest that I possibly could major in. What I need is the name of this type of career/job:
Work with video production and editing. For example, companies use Adobe Premier, Adobe Encoder, and etc., to make fantastic videos of what ever they want, or make a T.V. commercial by creating effects and putting up the phone numbers. I'm interested in making wedding photo slide shows.
Now that I explained along the lines what type of area I am interested in, can you help me find the "keyword" that describes or sum up all this information(maybe I was right: "Video Production"?)and also give me some info so I can search for courses near where I live or search for it in college.
Thank you for your time and support.
AnswerThanks for your question. I suggest that check the Occupational Outlook Handbook:
http://www.bls.gov/OCO/ Use the keyword search to enter "video," "video production," "film," etc.
Some of the results that come up for "video" that may be of interest to you include:
*Television, Video, and Motion Picture Camera Operators and Editors
*Motion Picture and Video Industries
*Broadcasting
I suggest that you read through all of the occupations that you find that are related to your career goals. You will be able to find out about the training and education needed, earnings, expected job prospects, what workers do on the job, and working conditions. I am sure you will discover more keywords for similar jobs as you read the job profiles.
