Career Planning - Employment and Travel

Expert: Torski Dobson-Arnold - 10/17/2009

Question
I asked myself what would I love to do in life.  The answer was I would love to find a job that required me to travel all the time.  I do not care what the job was, I know that I would love it if I was required to travel as a function of it.  I understand that most people are looking for a specific job that they love, but I love travel so much that any job I could have would be the wonderful job because of how central travel is to my existance.  Do you know what I could do, other than be an airline stewardess?

Answer
Kee,

Where I applaud your enthusiasm in determining what aspect of a job you would love, you need to do a little more homework to define exactly what that is.  I don't think that you would love ANy job that allowed you to travel, but didn't highlight and accentuate your natural strengths and skills that you loved to do.

Like the old saying goes "If you don't know where you are going, you won't know when you get there".  I would recommend that you take more time with a career coach or on your own identifying your natural skills and abilities and career fields that you would enjoy and then build the component of travel around them.

In the long run, I think you are going to be very happy you did.

Claiming nothing but success in all of your career endeavors,

Torski
