Question
I am currently about to start my senior year at FIU in accounting. My goal is to eventually become a fraud examiner in either the public or private sector. Ideally working for law enforcement as a fraud investigator (for that i have to wait till Im 30 due to prior issues(no arrest though)) but not necessary. I however have no idea what steps to take to better my chances at achieving my goal. I do plan on finishing my bachelors then finding a job hopefully in auditing then pursing my CFE or CFA followed by my masters for my CPA.

I however am completely clueless past that and don't know which career moves would be best to give me relevant and credible experience/ credentials.

Answer
Lazaro:

Based on my review of several fraud examiner roles listed currently on some of the top job boards, it appears as though most successful fraud examiners have a seasoned and targeted past work history in finance, cash management, accounting, and banking.  With this in mind, I would seek out internship and/or externship opportunities in these areas while you pursue your undergraduate degree.

It appears that as long as you pursue entry-level opportunities in these areas, you will build upon the work history you need to meet your objective of becoming a fraud examiner/investigator by 30.

I hope this information helps.

Claiming nothing but success in all of your career endeavors,
