Answer
Hey Brandon
First of all, I just want to say thanks to you for being over there and serving us over here.
I am grateful.
Second, it seems from the pictures I saw that you have a good look and a good personality to be in front of the camera.  As far as how you pursue it really depends on where you will be when you get back.  You will need to be near/in a city that is large enough to have a profitable market for you.  Los Angeles, NY, Chicago, Miami are the best... although you could probably start in a smaller market like Dallas, Seattle or Atlanta.  Any city smaller than that will not have enough opportunities to make it worth your while... and no matter what anyone else says, on-line sites are not at a legitimate level.  No respectable agents/clients are looking for talent there.
For modeling, contact the local agents and see what they are looking for.  Most all of them will look at email picture submissions... and go from there.  You do NOT need to spend any money on professional pictures until you get an agent interested.  They will be able to tell everything they need to know by meeting you and seeing your snapshots.  A good agent will guide you the right direction... and not charge you anything upfront.  They will make money on a commission basis from the jobs you book.
Acting is a different career altogether.  As soon as you get back... get into an acting class.  See if you really like it.  You will need to start performing... local theater, showcases... etc... anything you can do to be seen.  And you will need to get an agent as soon as you can.  It's almost impossible to hear about auditions without one... but, it can be difficult to get one without experience.  Call your local "talent agents" and see how to get a meeting.  If you decide you want to pursue acting, set your goals and be persistent!
I'll be happy to answer any more specific questions you have.
Hope this helps!
All the best to you,
