im 16 but have been told i have a natral nack for acting the problem is i dont know how to go abour getting an agent

Answer
If you're in the US, it's generally much easier than in other parts of the world.

There are talent agency directories available in many libraries, bookstores or online, and also on newsstands in the Los Angeles and New York City areas.

Once you have a list of agents closest to you, it is usual to postal mail them your actor's headshot and resume, and a cover letter.  Some agencies do have open calls, and there are other ways to meet agents (such as a showcase or convention), but generally you would mail in your info to them.

If they are interested, and even if you are an experienced actor with a demo tape, the agency often asks you to come in for an audition and/or an interview, although not always.

So basically your first step would be to locate the talent agencies closest to you by using one of the agency lists or directories.

Then get together a your actor's headshot and actor's resume, and submit it to the agencies you are interested in.  If they call you in to meet with them, be prepared to do an audition for them.  You can ask them beforehand whether you should have something prepared (like a monologue or a commercial bit) or if you'll be doing a cold reading.

Ideally, you get interest from several agencies, and can select the one that's right for you and your goals as an actor.

In the meantime, you can also take acting classes, study on your own through books, an acting group or such, or practice your skills with community theater, local student or independent filmmakers, or other places (perhaps your school has a drama department, or you can start your own acting study group).

Good luck to you,

Expertise

I can answer questions from those looking to get into the fashion or commercial modeling industry. Specifically, the requirements, what is needed, how to find an agent, what they look for, how to avoid scams, the difference between what a commercial model does, and a fashion model, would travel/relocation be required, what is on a comp card and in your portfolio.

Experience

Both my acting and modeling resume/portfolio is available online on my website. I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and also have available my actor's demo reel and voice-over demo online. I founded both the Florida-Models.com and Florida-Actors.com websites, which provide free modeling and acting info to the public. I have moved into directing, producing and screenwriting - and have won awards for my writing. I have worked in the industry as both a model and actress in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles until October 2007. I now reside in Europe.
