Question
QUESTION: I am looking to apply to all of the talent agencies and want to know:
How can I separate myself from the pack and get an interview/hired?

ANSWER: Manuel,

Thanks for writing. First of all, if you apply to ALL of the talent agencies as you've said, you'd be wasting your time let alone your money. Most, if not all, will not respond to you.

If you want to have a talent agent take an interest in you, first you need to enroll in some acting classes to develop your talent. Then, you need to be appearing in something (a play, a commercial, a showcase) in order for talent agents to see your work as an actor. If they like what they see, they'll ask to sign you.

So, get the training, then appear in something and invite as many agents as you can to see your work. Then hope that you're good enough to have them interested in you.

Good luck!

QUESTION: Thanks for your help but I should have clarified-
I'm looking to get into the agencies as a trainee not as talent. In the mailroom, so I myself can represent talent after a few years of training.

Answer
Manuel,

To work in a mailroom at an agency, contact the Human Resources department of the agency and tell them you desire a career as an agent and are willing to begin in the mailroom to learn the ropes. Most agencies are willing to take talented, young would-be agents if they are willing to work their butts off to get the job done.
