Expert: Kenneth D. Plonkey - 11/23/2008
QuestionHi, I have a passion to get into acting, everyone says I should take it up and try to make a career out of it, I am 22 and live in Las Vegas, I found a free acting class here and I had a lot of fun, I went for the first time but then the second time I was suppose to go, they closed the whole acting place down. So I was wondering how does one who doesn't have experience get into acting? What do I need to do or learn? or am I to old now to get into? I appreciate you help or any advice. I really would like to get into acting. Thanks
AnswerHi Gina, First of all you need to do all the acting you can, so look for community theatres that you can participate in, when you get back into an acting class, ask the teacher and other students about opportunities in student and independent films as well. There are plenty of acting studios in Vegas, but they are not free. I take it you were at Talent Services International for the freebies. what a beginner needs to do is to build a resume of experience and training and then try to get an agent. there is not much work for legitimate actors in Vegas and one girl I have advised there has gone to LA to get an agent and to have opportunities to be in major films. For continued advice about acting and having a career in acting, write me at kencosp@aol.com where I do most of my advising. Best wishes, Doc
