Question
Hello Kenneth:

If I understand correctly, if someone wants a speaking part in a motion picture, he or she must be in an actor's union something like the Screen Actor's Guild.  I hear about actors who want to obtain some type of card. Do you know what this card is and what is represents?

I thank you for any reply that you return to me.

Answer
Hi Kenneth, No, you do not understand correctly. It is possible to have a speaking role in a film without being a member of the union. The union is the Screen Actors Guild or SAG.  The card is their union membership card which allows them to be hired for additional roles in additional films,as you can only work once or twice without it. Best wishes, Doc
