Question
Hi there, my name is Kaitlin, I'm 12 years old and I am interested in becoming an actress. But the problem is there's not acting classes/studios where I am, which is about 4 hours from Toronto. I really want to move closer to Toronto or IN Toronto but my parents won't listen to me. Any advice?????

Answer
Kaitlin,

Thanks for writing. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can offer you. Since you're 12 years old, you're still a minor and under the supervision of your parents. While I appreciate your desire to pursue an acting career, if you're parents won't support your desire, there isn't much you can do other than look for classes in your immediate area.

Maybe you can make a deal with them: suggest that if your maintain your grades at an "A" level throughout the school year, come summer time, they will agree to send you to Toronto for the summer where you can enroll in a summer actor's training program. This way you can see if you like the training and your parents can insure that you don't lose track of your studies.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!
