QuestionHi, I live on Long island, NY and am looking towards pursuing a career as an actress in film. I'm currently looking at schools but don't know which one is the best for me. I'm really interested and willing to work hard. I don't want to go into a school and pay a lot of money, only to figure out it wasn't worth what the website said/described the program and experience to be. Please email me back giving me any information or advice on which school to choose. I've looked at: Academy of Film, TVI, Ted Bardy Studio, Jason Bennett actor's workshop.
Thank-you,
Kristen
AnswerHi Kristen. Going to a school is not required for film acting. The first requirement is lots of acting experience in plays, and in independent films and in student films. Also required is a knowledge of the business and how it works and how to succeed in it. Some financial resources are also needed for photos and printing. You are wise to seek help in avoiding scams and classes not worth taking. To advise you on how to proceed in preparing to be a film actress, I need to know your age and your acting experience, specific roles in which plays you have done. This is what I do, I advise aspiring actors. I charge nothing and I do this advising at kencosp@aol.com. I have advisees all over the world. So fill me in at my aol email and I will suggest how you proceed. Best wishes and God Bless, Doc
