Question
Hello sir,

My name is Matt Lowery, I'm 18 years old I live in Arizona and I love the movies. My dream job since I was a boy was to work in a theatre, once I turned 16 I got a job at a local 5 screen... Two years later I am now working at a 24-plex as a supervisor. And lately I have been giving a lot of thought into going further into the entertainment business, but I don't know where to start getting information on the different things I could do.

I know I don't want to be an Actor, I've been in a few on stage shows during High School and that just wasn't my cup of tea.

If you would be willing to give me a nudge into the right direction I'd be deeply grateful.

Where did you start out in the business? What did you like most? What would you suggest to someone that wants to get into the business?

(And I have read some of the other questions on the site and I've seen the talk about USC and UCLA, and I am mulling that over for a bit.)

Thanks a ton!

-Matt

Answer
Matt,

Thanks for writing. I'm not sure how to answer your question as it really isn't my place to tell you what career you should have. Only you can determine that. You need to think about what part of the entertainment industry interests you the most. What is it about film that makes you such a fan? In what area of the idustry can you envision yourself working? Answer these questions and maybe you'll have a better idea of where you would fit in.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Phil

P.S. I started out wanting to be an actor, trained as an actor and director, worked as both and the went behind the camera working as a studio executive, line producer and UPM.
