Careers: Acting, Performing, Directing/Acting School for Adults

Question
Hello

I am a 34 year old man ... have had a very successful career as a sound engineer, music producer and music writer and am now very financially secure ... at least for the next few years or so!

I have done a bit of acting in school plays and the like ... a couple of times as the lead ... and I would love to study drama full time.

Are there any schools / courses that are designed specifically for my sort of situation / age that are actually recognized in the industry by film makers / program makers / theatre as a creative force etc. I would be able to study pretty much anywhere full time ... London, New York ... it doesn't really matter!

Thanks for you help.

Tim

Answer
Hi Tim.  There is nothing odd about a 30 something starting to be an actor.  Any adult classes are going to be fine for you as long as we pick them carefully and don't waste your time and money.I don't know of any schools or studios especially designed for late enterers in the US, but I know there are some in the UK.  I would stay here, however and work on being an actor.  Where did you do your music work? That might be where to study acting as well.  Write me at kencosp@aol.com and we will continue to work on getting you established as an actor.  Doc
