Questionhi Im 53 yrs old and I have taken a few improv classes at second city in L.A. and in las Vegas this year I enrolled in an acting class and must say I am enjoying it very much and have been cast in an upcoming production. In order to proceed other than training and practice how do I go about getting an agent and that type of thing.
AnswerHi Tim, Wish I were 53 again. It ususally is a good idea to have a couple of classes and productions under your belt before trying to get an agent, but if you have an interesting look you may get represented right away. You need an 8x10 head shot. A good, though not expensive photo of your head and shoulders, showing your sparkle and that looks like you. You need to make a resume of your acting experience and training (do a web search for Sample Actor's Resume) Don't worry that it is all blank. You need to write a cover letter, which I can help you do if you like. Then you mail these to agents in your area (within a couple of hours' drive). And you wait for a call. Or, if a local agency (make sure it is a Talent Agency) allows on line submissions, or has open auditions, you can do that. I mentor aspiring actors for free.
