QuestionQUESTION: HEY RUSTY!
My name's Corey, I am an 18 year old male liveing in Australia and am very keen to pursue an acting career in the States in about 5 years or so (when I'm a little bit older!) But I can't help but start thinking, planning and understanding everything that can go with pursueing an Acting Career in the states, considering I come from Australia.
SO, are you able to give me any advice, ideas, knowledge on some of the basics of Moving to America for acting.
I'm talking ANYTHING. For instance, which is better? LA or NYC?
Thanks for your help to come, hopefully!
Corey :)
ANSWER: Hey Corey from down under.
There are certainly a lot of great actors coming from your side of the world, and I don't really think you will need any help from me.
If you are any good they will find you.
So do as much stage, commercials, tv, films as you possibly can to be ready whrn the time comes.
Most likely someone will see will see your work, and will be asking you to come on over.
If you prefer the stage then definately NYC.
If it's Film or TV then LA is the place, it's pretty much hat simple here.
Cheers Mate.

QUESTION: WOW!
Oh so quick at replying! Thanks!
Well currently I am Studying Acting at the QLD Actor's Playhouse which is GREAT! but eventually i would like to try for a bigger course like NIDA. Is it more about where you were trained or how well you were trained (how good you are) that agents, directors look for?
Are you saying that I should sit tight down under and THEN once I have done alot of "known" stuff here, move to the states?
Would you agree that 5 years is enough time before i make the trek over?
OKAY! that's all for the moment... suure to be more questions next time if your happy to anwser them!?
What Stuff have you done in film and tv in the states? You seem pretty EXPERIENCED!
Thanks Man,
Corey :)
AnswerYou're certainly welcome.
It sounds like you're going in the right direction, it's now just a matter of builing your resume albeit in stage, tv, film, commercials, industial video, voice overs, indies or even print modeling.
The more you have on your resume the more likely you will be taken seriously.
If it takes 1 then great (but odds are) however if it takes 5 then so be it.
Just be ready when the time comes.
