QUESTION: I want to act. I've wanted it all my life, but there are not really any chances for me to go out for a part. I live in Minnesota, and not a whole heck of a lot happens here. I really super want to go to an acting school, but I don't know where I can go to do that. I want to act because it's something I enjoy, but I have no idea what to do to make my dream a reality.
ANSWER: Hi Mara, It is a familiar story. Why are there not any plays for you to audition for? Are there not plays at school? What about at church or in the community? I am going to have to know what city you live in and how far it is to a major city? I have to know how old you are? the main thing you have to do is to act at every opportunity and with the info I have asked for you I can try to help you. Doc

QUESTION: Im 15 years old, and I am not yet old enough to try out for the school play, but as soon as I am of the correct age, there will be nobody that can stand in my way. I live in Carlton Minnesota, and the nearest big city is Duluth, and I have no idea how to find out if there is any acting opprotunities for me. Thank you for answering my question.

Hi Mara, Unfortunately there are very few acting oportunities for teens. YOu are going to have to wait until the school plays and then by trying out and participating you may get some idea of whether you have any talent. then if you are judged at being very very good, you might consider trying to be an actor. Acting is a field so crowded that even those with great ability often never do anything.
