Careers: Acting, Performing, Directing/Found a job, how do I get there
Expert: Kenneth D. Plonkey - 6/19/2008
QuestionI'm fourteen. I found a job for a movie, and I am applying for it later today. I think it may be the role for me, and this may be my break, but it's located in Los Angeles, whereas I'm in Michigan, and my family is very low on money. How can I afford to get to Los Angeles, and be able to stay for casting?
Please reply as soon as you can. Thanks!
AnswerDear Joanne, I am dreadfully sorry to tell you that you have about the same odds of winning the powerball lottery as getting this role. There is no way you can get there if they should happen to want to see you, and then what if you had to go back for call backs? and then how would you get there or whereever the filming was to do the work? These complications as why an agent will not represent you if you live more than an hour or so dirve away. I hope your big chance eventually does come around, but I don't have any hope that this is it. You really are not going to get cast via some web site. You are going to have to become an actress the old fashioned way, you are going to have to work for it for many years. Better get started then, you need your parents behind you to help find you opportunities to act, to help find and pay for acting classes and when you have a good, strong resume, help find you an agent and pay for photos and printing of comp. card. Again, I am sorry, and I wish you all the best, Doc
