Question Hello!
My name is Ashleigh and I'm 14, I've always wanted to become an actress. I told my mom and i don't think she believes in me to become an actress, but I really want to be an actress for my career. I've been looking for help for awhile now but i don't know how to tell my mom that that's what i want to do and I don't even know where to start on becoming an actress. I've never done any acting except when i was in elementary school i was in two plays but that was the only thing I've done. So, I'm asking you to help me find out how to get started. Oh, and also I would love to act on Disney Channel, it looks like fun, and is a better way to start acting but i would also like to act in movies too, my biggest problem is how to start and how to tell my parents that i want to act! Please help me!
Answer Hi Ashleigh, What looks like fun on tv is actually a great deal of work. Film and tv actors (the same thing for the most part)get up very early each work day spend a lot of time getting ready, more time waiting around to do the work and working until late in the day. Actors do not have time to hang out with their pals and go to the mall and such like you do. Now,you cannot do anything without your parents' signature until you are 18. So, you have to get them behind you if you are going to do anything before then. The only way I can thing of to do that is to be in school productions and shine so brightly that everyone tells your parents how talented you are and how proud of you they must be. Then you have an opening for the conversation about becoming an actress. Best wishes, Doc
