Question
Hi,
I am an aspiring actor/film-maker, and I have started to pursue this long held dream pretty late in life.  My educational background is Finance and Marketing, so I am in a completely different realm.  Earlier this year, I had been chosen as an extra for a major film opening next year.  I live in Houston, so dropping everything and moving to CA or NYC is a bit scary.  What are some things that I can do locally that might help me?

Answer
Hi Nihita, Well, your finance and marketing background is excellent for a filmmaker who is a producer/director. Being an extra in a film is far different from being an actor. It takes natural born talent to be an effective actor. An extra just follows the AD's instructions. It is not necessary to go to LA or NYC to do either of your goals. Houston can provide plenty of opportunity for both. I suggest you take classes in acting and film making at Next Actor Studio there in Houston. Best wishes, Doc
