AboutKitty Kavey Expertise I can answer questions from those looking to get into the fashion or commercial modeling industry. Specifically, the requirements, what is needed, how to find an agent, what they look for, how to avoid scams, the difference between what a commercial model does, and a fashion model, would travel/relocation be required, what is on a comp card and in your portfolio.
Experience Both my acting and modeling resume/portfolio is available online on my website. I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and also have available my actor's demo reel and voice-over demo online. I founded both the Florida-Models.com and Florida-Actors.com websites, which provide free modeling and acting info to the public. I have moved into directing, producing and screenwriting - and have won awards for my writing. I have worked in the industry as both a model and actress in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles until October 2007. I now reside in Europe.
Question Hey kitty i have been trying to do photoshoots in my backyard or in my house with my neighbor, but i am getting pictures that i look great, but the lighting is off or the camera is making it fuzzy. My local library is being renovated so i cant go there to find out proper lighting techniques and i just dont have the money to buy a fancy camera, so my question is, is there anyway i can set up a photoshoot? There is a photography place that does my schools senior pictures so if i wanted to do a photoshoot would i call them and ask? and if they even say yes would there be a specific theme? Sorry this is soooo long, but if you could try to answer these questions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Tie:)
Answer You could certainly ask them - even if they say no they may be able to refer you to a place that would be able to rent out equipment, or be helpful to you in another way.
If not - try your local bookstore. Even if you don't buy a book, you can flip through and get some ideas or the information you need as far as technique and technical aspects.
Same thing on the Internet; not only are there websites that have forums and articles/information on digital photography, working with natural light, and most likely the specific camera brand or model you're using - but there are also online versions of photography magazines that you can access as well.
Check around your area for adult education schools and community colleges to see if any of them have a photography course. It may be that they offer a really inexpensive course (with equipment) or you can perhaps hook up with a student for free to either get their assistance, or perhaps borrow the camera/equipment you need.
