Question
Hello, my names Caroline, I'm 16 from England and I'm really starting to panic about what I'm taking at my A Levels. I've always wanted to become an actress and have taken drama as GCSE and I'm currently trying to get into various theatres. However in a few weeks I have to decide what I want to take as A Level and I'm not sure what subjects would be best as I would like to carry on acting at University. I would also like to be able to have the option of other career choices if the acting doesn't work out. At the moment I'm thinking about taking Drama, Media, English Combined and Philosophy and Ethics. Are these good subjects to take and would Universities accept them? What kind of subjects are they looking for?

Thank you

Answer
Caroline,

Thanks for writing. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be much help to you as I am unfamiliar with universities in England nor am I aware of the kind of subjects they like to see on the report cards of students applying for acceptance.

Maybe you should seek advice from your school's guidance counselor, or consider contacting the universities that are of interest to you, speak to their admissions departments, and ask what they like to see from students like yourself in order to be accepted into their programs.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Phil
