QuestionI'm 14year old. I don't even have a clue how to start my modeling/acting career.I live in Belleville,IL. All the agencies I've been with were scams.I just feel like giving up on my dream. How do I start a modeling/acting career without paying anything or going far away from Belleville?
AnswerHi Towana
The good news is you're young! Sounds like you have a lot of passion for acting/modeling . . . that's a great start. You can begin studying and preparing yourself even if you don't have immediate opportunities in Belleville.
You may not be working professionally there.... but, you can certainly prepare yourself to go to a bigger city when you're ready.
Acting takes skill and study. Are you involved in your local theater? Drama club? If you have dreams of being a performer. . . begin to perform! Study dance, voice, music- anything you can to begin performing in front of people. Study plays, TV, film . . . begin to understand yourself as an artist.
As far as modeling goes, anything you do from there will not be profitable for you. You need to be in a bigger city. How far are you from Chicago? They have great agents there that I have worked with... with a good lucrative catalog market if you have the right look. Remember, you should never have to pay big fees upfront to a modeling agency. Do you know you have a look that is marketable? Are you 5'8" or taller?
I will be glad to look at your pictures and guide you further if you want. I have a free online coaching service on my site:

You have this time right now to prepare. Have fun! Get excited about becoming a good actor. . . .then, you'll be ready for the opportunities when they are there.
All the best,
