Question
Hi, I'm nearing my senior year and I'm trying to decide on a college. I know that I want to go into theatre, and I'm pretty sure tech theatre specifically. I can't seem to decide what specific aspect though (lighting, sound, stage management...). I'm trying to weigh the benefits of a BA versus a BFA (conservatory). I am currently completing an internship with an equity theatre, so I have some experience. Basically, if you any help or advice regarding any of this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Katie

Answer
Hi Katie, I am not sure what you mean by BFA conservatory. I divide eduaction into university or professional school, although they both have tried to muddy them. I think a BFA in tech theatre is offerred at some top univeristies. I ran into one the other day and failed to write it down, as usual. LOL. But some web searching may help. Go to a university for a BFA in tech theatre OR go to a four year general theatre major and then try to get into Yale Drama grad school or into U. of Texas at Austin for grad study in design and tech theatre. I think the first route good enough and hard enough to do.  Best wishes, Doc
