Question
*How much money do you get payed?
*What classes do I have to take?

Answer
Each job and each client varies, so there is no one set rate for modeling.  Larger markets such as New York would generally pay more for the same type of work than a smaller market, such as Chicago.

A bigger company may pay more for the same type of work than a smaller company - so you may earn a lot more modeling underwear for Victoria's Secret than you would modeling underwear for Sears.

A promotional model may be paid by the hour, perhaps as little as $10 or $15 an hour, while a high fashion model may be paid thousands for just a few hours on the catwalk.

Then too it may vary by how well-known one is.  A "name" may earn a lot more than an unknown, even though they may working the same runway show for the same designer.

No classes are required to become any type of model, nor do most types of models use a resume.

You can find out more specific answers to your first question if you choose a particular type of modeling and then contact agencies in your area who represent that type of model.  They should be able to at least give you an idea of who their clients might be, and what a certainly look or type might be able to earn in your area.

Good luck to you,
~Kitty

I can answer questions from those looking to get into the fashion or commercial modeling industry. Specifically, the requirements, what is needed, how to find an agent, what they look for, how to avoid scams, the difference between what a commercial model does, and a fashion model, would travel/relocation be required, what is on a comp card and in your portfolio.

Experience

Both my acting and modeling resume/portfolio is available online on my website. I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and also have available my actor's demo reel and voice-over demo online. I founded both the Florida-Models.com and Florida-Actors.com websites, which provide free modeling and acting info to the public. I have moved into directing, producing and screenwriting - and have won awards for my writing. I have worked in the industry as both a model and actress in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles until October 2007. I now reside in Europe.
