AboutMichelle Renee Krehl Expertise I can answer questions relating to most types of fashion and commercial modeling, such as requirements, how to find an agent, etc. as well as information about portfolio development, comp cards, etc.
Experience I am a professional plus size model, currently based in Los Angeles. I have modeled as both a straight size model, (in my teens and 20's) and as a plus size model (currently). I am represented by a reputable agency and have worked for many clients, both plus and non-plus specific. I am experienced in print, runway, fit, TV, and film.
Publications I am currently a writer for PLUS Model Magazine. You may read articles I have written in the archives. I generally do pieces relating to fashion events in the Los Angeles area.
Education/Credentials My educational background is in Child Development. But I also hold a diploma in Fashion Merchandising as well. I have not attended modeling school. Modeling schools are completely unnecessary and a waste of time for potential models. They exist only to make money.

Question Hello! My name is Jessica Insixiengmay and i'm in the 6th grade. I'm just asking where and how can I audition for a part for Wizards of Waverly Place or Suite Life on Deck. It is my dream of being on Disney Channel! I am going to say please and thank you if you can help me. I have straight A's last year but I don't know for this year, just to let you know.. I can't tell if I have a great voice but I sing a lot! But what will I do if my mom says NO! Will you help me? Where will I live? How will I get there? What about school? Acting looks fun and I know you have to remember your lines but I know some. But I live in Sacramento and L.A. is kind of far away! So please help me! I will be happy for a long time. And I hope my mom and dad likes the idea too. And will I go to a different school? This will be a very great opportunity for me! So if I can be on TV that will be great. Thank you very much!!
Answer Dear Jessica,
Being on the Disney Channel seems to be a very popular dream and I get lots of questions about how to go about it. First off, most of the actors on TV have agents. Most of them also appeared on other shows or often commercials before they get to the point they are at now. Many of them also acted in stage productions and took acting and voice lessons before they had an agent.
It is important to have parents' full support when deciding to try acting when you are still a minor. Parents have to take children to auditions, which usually occur during parents' work hours, so one parent usually has to be available to take you and usually cannot have a regular 9-5 job.
Sacramento is not that far away from Los Angeles, a very quick plane ride. But as a child of course you would need parents to take you on those types of trips. Some of the tween shows on Nick, Disney, etc. are filmed in other places like Orlando and Vancouver, Canada.
Right now, you can get involved in school and community productions, as often agents go to local theater shows seeking talent. Think about taking an acting class at a local community college, they are low cost and really valuable. If you have a drama dept at school see if you can get involved, or perhaps in chorus or choir.
Really at this point you need to get your parents' on board with your dream, as I am afraid it is not something a person under 18 cannot really do without an adult on your side, so I recommend talking to them!
