Question Hey, I'm Kayla, I'm only 13, and I would love to be an actor on a kids t.v show, Like disney, or nick Etc. would I have to take classes to get where i want to. I kinda want to start off at an early age. I want to do this for my family. I know it will pay quite an amount of money, and we need it right now at the most. I just don't know what to do. My Mom told me i'd have to take drama. But i dont really wanna take classes for it. What should I do?
Answer Hi Kayla, your reasons for wanting to be an actress to help your family are noble and wonderful.
I am sorry to report that the acting profession is not noble, as it is only interested in making a profit off of the productions it makes. This is fine. Business people who risk money in an investment should profit if the investment is successful. But acting as a business is very very difficult to get into, especially for young teens, as, in spite of what you see on TV, there are very few jobs for them. The way that youngsters like yourself are made professional actors is due to the efforts of their parents, their natural exceptional talent and terrific personalities. Since you seem to want to do this without making any effort on your part, it just will never happen. I am sorry because I appreciate your motives, God bless, Doc
