Answer That depends somewhat on what type of acting one was interested in, and what method(s) of acting would mesh best with the individual. Generally speaking, there are many acting schools and courses that also might work as well or better than attending a general university for acting.
There are some schools and universities that also have more well-known alumni and are more recognizable on an actor's resume - not necessarily the best for acting, but which can be an advantage. Many of the better schools for actors are located in the larger markets; New York City and Los Angeles in the US, and students can easily work as an actor while learning in those areas.
