Question
Hi there. Im looking to find an agent who is reputable to first tell me if either of my children have what it takes to model.  If so, then having that agent if interested taking them on so they can model.

My brother is in the industry (if at a later time who would like me to tell you whom-you can ask me) but rather not bring him into the light at the moment. lol He keeps urging me to get them both modeling especially my daughter. Today someone was taking photos for a newspaper article they were working on and started taking candid shots of my daughter.

Then later told me that she was very photogetic and I should seriously consider finding her an agent. If an agent is interested and wants either of my children I would be willing to travel. I currently reside in Florida between Miami and Orlando.

I would like to do this on my own without my brothers help. =0) So how would I find a reputable agent to view their pictures and then sign up with them if they are interested??

I greatly appreciate any and all help-my brother would probably chew me a new one for asking someone else for help. But, big brothers are just that way. lol

thank you again.

Answer
Look up SAG agents in your area, call the Orlando or Miami Film Commission.

DO NOT EVER PAY ANYONE UP FRONT MONEY EVER.

Agents and managers are paid on commission ONLY, and after the talent gets paid.

I hope I made that clear enough.

I know about the acting industry but, that part is the same.

I would suggest that you go with a SAG Franchised agency.

If the agents look at pictures and they aren't any good (or even if they are) they might have you go to a specific photographer, which they know and work with.

That is usually where these agents make their money too, by kickback.

A reputable agent will give you a list of photographers and tell you which ones they like most.

If your children are so beautiful then they might be able to get photos for free, in trade.

I doubt it, but if a photographer can make money by showing in his book some great shots that sells his work too, just like your kids photos sell them.

I would go see 3-4 agents before I would sign with any of them.

Ask the agents questions too, remember they make money when you do, not the other way around.

So in a way you are their boss, since you pay them.

A 20% commission for modeling is standard and the most that they should take PERIOD!.

Good Luck.
