Well I'm Veronica, and I'm a 12 year old girl. I have a question on modeling but it seems like I don't have advice or tips on modeling. But, I really want to be a model when I grow up and right now I want to start modeling but I don't know which modeling agency is the right one. Again,my mom find modeling not a good idea but I just love it. I would love to have a modeling mentor that will help me with modeling so much. I need help with alot of things. How can you guys help me?

Hi Veronica,

You need to get your mum on side if you want to model at 12 years old. Why? because the industry is ruthless and you will need the support and guidance to cope with daily rejection and criticism of your looks.

You should compile a list of agencies in your area and the major cities, e.g., NYC, Miami and LA. Then send a head and full length shot (doesn't have to be professional)to the agencies along with your stats (height, waist, hips, shoe size, hair and eye colour).

Never ever pay to go on the books of an agency or for model training. The agency will teach you all you need to know for free as they should be making money out of the clients and not you. The agency will also act as you mentor.

Furthermore, you MUST continue in your education as you will need something to fall back on. A lot of younger girls model during summer breaks.

You will need a really thick skin and home support to make it as a model and I wish you every sucess.

I am currently a model and have 13 years experience in both editorial and commercial modelling. During this time I worked for catalogues, TV commercials, advertising, advertorials, catwalk, editorial, front covers and showroom. I have also diversified into other areas of fashion as a stylist and fashion journalist. This has given me a greater depth of understanding into what clients are looking for at a casting.
