QuestionQUESTION: I have been directing for over 20 years in our community here Snohomish County Washington state. What can I do to improve my chances to get my work seen to get a possible position with a local theater group?
ANSWER: Jeff, I need more details about what you mean by director for over 20 years and under what circumstances (volunteer?) What are the circumstances of the other group? Have you been talking to the other group about an opening they have? Not enough info here,. Doc

QUESTION: Here we go. I do have a degree from Seattle Pacific University and have been volunteering my services in churches and community theater groups for these 20 years. The plays I do have met with a good amount of success. My question: How can I break into more main stream directing jobs or get the artistic directors to come see my plays?
AnswerJeff. First you have to find out which jobs you are qualified for by experience, union, etc. Then when they have an opening you apply and invite them to see the show you are currently directing. There must be some semi-pro dinner theatres and some community theatres in your area that pay the directors of their productions. Also you need to do more networking, no doubt. IF you write me at kencosp@aol.com, I will send you my page on beginning networking. IT was written for actors but will do for directors in your situation very well. Best wishes, Doc
