QUESTION: Hi my name is stephanie santos and my passion in life is to become an actress. I am looking for and agent to represent me and to get me started. I have no experience, i have been in agencies but they have always just been scams and i dont want to get scamed no more. This is my dream and i was wondering if you can tell me how i can get started. Hope to hear from you soon.

ANSWER: Hi Stephanie.  Acting is unlike any other career, because you don't just go and be an actor. It takes natual talent, charm, business sense, and years of preparation and experience.  Agents do not make people into actors. They represent people who are already actors. The way to get started to be an actress is to start acting in everything you can find-school, church and community plays, student films and independent films.  None of these pay anything, but they give you needed experience. Once you have been in several plays you will beging hearing about acting opportunities and be able to take part in those. After being in several producitons, then it is a good idea to take a couple of professional classes, not to learn to act, but to learn some things to use when you act and to learn more about what is going on in the acting world around you.  Best wishes and God bless, Doc

Hi Stephanie, You do not get started at a web site. You get started right where you are in your school and your comunnity. Get into the plays at school and in the community theatres and at church. Get losts of experience as an actor. Your best resources are your parents. They need to be involoved if you are going to really make progress before you are 18.  Blessings, Doc
