Careers: Acting, Performing, Directing/Acting Questions
Expert: Rusty Meyers - 6/6/2009
QuestionHey, I have wanted to Act since I was nearly 9 years old and was cautious
about it for a few years keeping my mind open for new ideas, trying to see if
it was really what I wanted to do... When I was 14-15 I was positive it was
what I wanted to do... I have a passion for it and I can't wait till I can get out
there and try my best..
I'm currently 16 and I live in Reno, NV, there is hardly any good acting
schools out here that are actually worth going to from what I've read.. I
wanted to know if you knew anyone down here that is credible, or trustworthy
to work with till I can move down to L.A. or should I stick with
local/community theatre until then?
Any "Advice, instructions, or names" are appreciated..
Thanks, Matt
AnswerI thought I already answered this.
So this will be shorter version.
Stay in school, do every play, musical you can.
Take as many acting, music, dance, band, speech, language, history classes you can to give yourself all of the resources to be the most well-rounded actor that you can be.
Do community theatre check out your local film commission and do every indie and student film available to you.
You need to start building up a resume.
Go to the agents in town and start auditioning for EVERYTHING.
If and when you have conquered the town of Reno, then you can maybe think about Las Vegas, before you hit LA.
Unless of course you and/or your parents are wealthy and money is no object, then all of what I said doesn't matter.
Just ask them to produce a movie or play for you to star in and hopefully you can act.
Good luck.
