My name is Alana and I am trying too start a career in acting. There is this program in which teaches film and television in New York City next summer and I think it will be a great opportunity for developing my skills as well as market me. The problem is it is four thousand dollars with an extra thousand for room and board. They have scholarship auditions coming up soon and they "recommend" one monologue from a movie, television show or a play to audition with. I have searched for monologues from all three categories but couldn't find any that really suited me. I have found two contrasting monologues that were on the Internet and I think that they were printed since they have authors. I really think I could nail the audition with either one of them but I'm afraid that it will hurt my chances of getting that scholarship because its not from the categories or they may not be published. What should I do? Would looking for more monologues help or should I stick with what I got and hope for the best?
Thanks in advance,
Alana
