Question
QUESTION: I need advice on the best method to get my baby in commercials & print work. I have been all over the net pretty much since he was born a year ago. I've entered him in contests, I've looked for local castings online but nothing ever seems to be there. Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places. I've entered in him castings for several clothing stores like Gapkids, Pottery barn, etc. Please help. Any advice would be appreciated.

ANSWER: Tralynza,

Thanks for writing. You're doing all the right things. The problem is that most of the commercials and print work for babies is cast in Los Angeles. If you don't live in LA, you won't see them advertised. And even if you DID connect to the website where most of these auditions are listed, the auditions are still in LA and you'd have to be living here in you even wanted to be considered.

QUESTION: Thanks for your swift response. Do you think it would be beneficial to put him on a "casting" site? For instance, I have an account on thecutekid.com but I'm looking for an alternative to being in LA that has the biggest chance of being successful.

Answer
Tralynza,

You can try this, but at the end of the day, you need to be in Los Angeles. What if you listed him a casting site and a casting director likes his photos and wants to meet him? You don't live in LA so you won't be available for a meeting in a day. Casting Directors want to know that if they call you for a meeting, you can be there in 24 hours. If you're wealthy enough to be able to fly with a 24 hour notice to Los Angeles, then I'd say okay. But if that's out of the question, then it is probably a waste of your time and money to list him on a  casting site.
