Question
Hello I'm Erica, I'm from Sweden. I've been studying in a Canadian(Ontario)school for 2 years now, located in Shenzhen,China. I'd like to become an actor, or performer. I also sing. I've been thinking a lot about Universities. But I've heard that it is hard to only do acting for a living, therefore I wonder if there are any schools that provides both Acting classes and probably Business classes as well. In Canada or U.S.A. I also wonder if it would be more difficult for me to apply because I am not an American or Canadian citizen.
I'd be very happy if you could help me. I don't know anyone who can help me here.

Erica

Answer
Dear Erica,  It is indeed very difficult to become a professional actor and make any money at it unless you are extraordinarily remarkable in talent, personality and appearance.  Also one cannot be a professional actor in the US unless one is a citizen, has a green card or is an imported star.  You can, of course, get a student visa and attend college here.  Most schools offer both acting and business. The trick is to find one that will allow you to do both.  I discuss this in my free ebook, The Tao of Acting  and I invite you to read it and to read all of my blog back to its beginning at www.kenplonkeyacting.com. I wish you great success, God bless, Doc
