Question
QUESTION: I'm away to turn 20 this year and was wondering if that was seen as being too old to think about having a career in the performing arts industry. Also if applying to a performing arts school do you need to of had lots of experience in singing and dancing? I studied music when I was at school and sang for my second instrument.

Thanks

Sabine

ANSWER: Hello Sabine.  There are many different careers in performing art, what did you have in mind? Various schools have various entrance requirements, get them by writing to the schools. Twenty is not too old, if you have the gift for it. You won't know if you don't try. God bless, Doc

QUESTION: I would be interested in performing in the westend. That would be my main goal.

Thanks for the Advice

Sabine

Answer
Hello again, Well, I have to be honest with you, Sabine. Unless you are extremely gifted, performing in a professional musical on The West End is highly unlikely.  There are thousands of well trained, very talented people auditioning for the few spots in those shows each year. Only a very small percentage  will be selected.  Audition for a school, then ask them. Best wishes, Doc
