Careers: Acting, Performing, Directing/Starting to act question
Expert: Rusty Meyers - 9/12/2010
QuestionHi Rusty Meyers, let me ask you this. I am a college graduate already but I have two questions for you. If you can only answer one of the questions on this posting then please proceed to answer the first question only:
1. I want to start acting. I recently got involved with
http://www.exploretalent.com to start searching for acting opportunities. I have always had an innate desire and ability to act and I can easily act since I was a child.
My childhood is one thing and my adolescense is another, still I am 25 years old right now and I am trying to relive my old childhood days but this time making it serious to find film and movies opportunities. However, I don't think I am 100% a great actor but I also don't thinik I am a bad actor.
My question for you is, should I perfect my acting abilities first even more until I feel "I am a great actor" or should I just simply start making auditions and participating in films in order to gain more experience? See the thing is that someone told me that if I don't make a great impression when I arrive to an audition for a role or while participating on a film, that can affect me with other agencies and people requiring of my services since they will share all the info about me and how I performed, its this true?
2. Where can I find a real working actor coach outside of school?
Thanks in advance
Luis Lazo
AnswerAsk your acting coach.
If you dan't one start lokking for NOW!
I'm sure that you can look up acting workshops in your area.
Then go in and audit a class if they will let you.
Talk to some agents in your area and ask them to recommend a few.
Look EVERYONE up on imdb.com or google them to see if they are legit.
Start taking some risks in your choices when you go in on an audition.
