Question

Diem Soto
Hello Kitty, I'm a mother to an adorable 19mth old boy with hair you wouldn't believe. We live in Houston, Texas and it never fails that everytime we are out someone will say how cute he is, and ask us if he is a baby model. Random strangers ask to have their picture taken with him just because they think he is so cute. I have looked into some agencies, however most wont take a child that young. I'd like to see if he is cute enough for print ads/commercials. Please, any advice on where I could go would be welcome. Thank you for your time.  - Proud Texas Mother.

Answer
There are a few agencies in that general area - and I'm also not sure how young they will accept talent/new faces.

You can try the following:
A+ Actors of Texas
4900 BISSONNET, SUITE 210, BELLAIRE, TX 77401
713-349-0000
http://aplusactors.com
Their website states they do accept children under four years, and they do have a print modeling division as well as representing actors and voiceover talent.

Neal Hamil Agency
7887 SAN FELIPE STE 110 HOUSTON, TX 77063
713-789-1335
http://www.nealhamilagency.com
They have a children's division, and represent models in addition to actors.  It lists 2T as the youngest on the site, so perhaps your son will have to wait a bit.

Pastorini Bosby Talent Agency
6300 WEST LOOP SOUTH STE 350 BELLAIRE, TX 77401
713-266-4488
http://www.pbtalent.com
Their website states that although not much work comes through for infants up to age 3, they will accept snapshots for consideration - although it's possible that any work that comes through this agency tends to be more for acting rather than modeling.

Good luck to you and your son,
~Kitty

Expertise

I can answer questions from those looking to get into the fashion or commercial modeling industry. Specifically, the requirements, what is needed, how to find an agent, what they look for, how to avoid scams, the difference between what a commercial model does, and a fashion model, would travel/relocation be required, what is on a comp card and in your portfolio.

Experience

Both my acting and modeling resume/portfolio is available online on my website. I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and also have available my actor's demo reel and voice-over demo online. I founded both the Florida-Models.com and Florida-Actors.com websites, which provide free modeling and acting info to the public. I have moved into directing, producing and screenwriting - and have won awards for my writing. I have worked in the industry as both a model and actress in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles until October 2007. I now reside in Europe.
