Question
QUESTION: How is the Central Theatre of the University of London ranked for film acting study?

ANSWER: Rick,

I honestly don't know. I'm not familiar with their film acting program.

Sorry.

Phil

P.S. What I can tell you is that if you want to study the craft of acting, you should enroll in professional actor's training program for the theater, not for film. The foundation of ALL styles and techniques of acting begins in the theater. Learn that craft and THEN take a few film acting workshops and learn to adjust your performance to the camera.

QUESTION: Thanks for the honesty,  I have just graduated from Texas Tech University with a BFA in theatre and have been accepted to the University of London Central Theatre for graduated work.  The problem is it is expensive and I wanted an outside opionion other than what I can find on the Internet as to the quality of their program.  The chairman of my department strongly urges me to go and says it will be of great benefit on my resume for both theatre and film.

Answer
Rick,

Forgive me - I stand corrected. I had not heard of the Central Theatre of the University of London, but I do know well the Central School of Speech and Drama at the University of London. If this is the school of which you speak, then consider yourself fortunate to have been accepted for graduate work there. The Central School is an EXCELLENT training program for actors! It's up there with the RADA, LAMDA, and the Bristol Old Vic.

Congratulations and good luck!
