Question
I stumbled upon this website and am so happy to see people showing love to others through helping. I am relocating from Michigan to California in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would really like to attend the American Conservatory Theater to aid in the decision about pursuing my acting destiny. I would like to know what is the best way to get training because I haven't actually done a play since elementary school but acting is my love? Is it better to take random acting classes or should I attend a  conservatory or university?

Answer
Hi Sharella.  The Bay area offers good opportunity. I like the program at the San Francisco Academy of Art.  I think if you have not decided on a career in acting as yet that a professional school is a huge waste of money (as they generally are anyway).  The best way to get yourself up to date, as it were, with your acting is to do some acting in community theatre. Once you have decided to try to become an actor how you proceed will depend on your age and financial situation. Best wishes, Doc
