Question
I have wrote a great script for a movie and want to get funding from a company,so I can hire staff and film and direct the movie. Can you please tell me how to
do this? Thank you

Answer
Paul,

Thanks for writing. Your question is the question that ALL independent filmmakers ask themselves every day! If there was a clear, simple answer, everyone would be doing it and everyone would be making films all the time. Unfortunately, it's not that easy.

The reality is this. If you want to direct and produce your own film, then start telling people you know that you need to meet people with money who may be interested in investing in the making of a film. Tell EVERYONE! You never know where the money will come from. Relatives, friends, people you meet at a party - EVERYONE! Get the word out and be agressive about it.

The other way to get a film made is through a studio. To do that, you must align yourself with a successful producer who has a relationship with the studios. There is a book revised three times a year called the Hollywood Creative Directory. In it you will find the names, titles, addresses and phone numbers of all of the executives who run the various studios and major production companies. You can try contacting them by using this information, but remember, because they don't know you, they may not respond to you.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Phil
