Careers: Acting, Performing, Directing/Head shot 'looks'

Question
Mr. Nemy,

First off I'd like to thank you for the advice you gave me regarding my previous question. I have been fortunate enough to find an agent willing to take a chance on me. I am now signed with Talent Network. He indicated a mild reluctance to sign on anyone without headshots, but after a cold read he decided to sign me. I have booked the services of an amazing *and yet very affordable* photographer. (Note to everyone out there, anytime someone offers to take headshots for you, always always ALWAYS look at their portfolio to get an idea of their quality) But I digress. Now we're discussing the 'looks' for the head & 3/4 body shots. Business/Executive, Casual/Club, Thug/Tough, and a nod to my ethnic background the 'Chinese Martial Artist' *although in my case it would be more along the lines of a Pot bellied pig in a blanket* Just wondering if you could suggest any other looks, perhaps apart from the norm?

Appreciatively,
Kris

Answer
Kris,

You're welcome - glad I could help with your previous question. As far as headshots, the decision should be between you, your agent and the photographer. Your agent has to decide how he can sell you. If he cannot sell you as a Business/Executive type, then you'd be wasting your money shooting that type. Discuss with the two of them how they see you and then shoot those types.

Hope this helps.
