Hi, first of all, may I thank you for taking your time to read these messages and help people.
I would like to become a model. I am 15 years old, I am 5' 7 tall. I weigh about 130lbs. I would like to know everything you could tell me about this subject. I am very interested in singing, and I think that it is my best talent. Could you tell me anything about that?
Thank you once again for reading this and helping me!
Sincerly,
Ali

If you fit the size criteria for fashion modeling, (approx. size 6, 34-24-34) you may want to consider sending a couple of snapshots and a cover letter to the fashion agencies closest to you. There are a number of modeling agency directories published annually, and available in your local library, bookstore or online. If you are still growing, you may want to wait until you are a bit taller. Since you are still below the minimum height for most fashion agencies, you could consider commercial modeling, instead. At 15 you are also below the minimum age for most promotional, swimsuit and glamour modeling. There are a variety of books written on the different types of modeling, and what you'll need to get started. I suggest at this point to look into commercial print modeling, as there is more work available outside of the fashion markets such as New York, Milan, Paris, etc., and no height/size/age requirements.
For singing on the other hand, you'd need a completely different approach. Depending on the type of singing you want to do, you may want to have a manager to help package and promote you. Most types of singing benefit from vocal coaches and teachers, and training (unlike modeling) can be a prerequisite.
Since I don't know you personally, I can only give you general advice - so generally speaking, it is far better to concentrate on one main goal at a time, particularly since much of your time may be already taken by school or other such obligations. I would say to choose either modeling or singing, and focus your free time on just one goal at a time. Narrow it down to the specific type of modeling or singing you want to do, write down your goals, then develop a plan to get there.
Good luck to you.

~~~~Thank you. that was very informative. I gave you a 10 rating on everything because you earned it...
To let you know a little more about me...I think, (and other people have told me) that singing is my best talent. I can sing songs from a range of Sheryl Crow, Hilary Duff, Kelly Rowland, *Alicia Keys* The Fugees (Killin Me Softly), Jewel, Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, FeFe Dobson, KELLY CLARKSON ( I can sing her songs very well) to MANY other artists.
I am originally more interested (a lot more) in singing than ANYTHING ELSE in the world... thank you... please try to write back very soon. thank you!
AnswerHave you joined any singing groups? If you don't have a vocal coach already, I suggest looking into that. If there aren't any singing groups in your area, you could start one. Develop a look and a style, and perform for the public. It's a great way to gain experience while you're working on your performance. There are all types of places who will let your group, or even you as a soloist perform for free. If you're ready to venture out professionally, you may want to look for a manager. Although it is part of their job to package and market you, you should already have worked on your own original stuff. Again, the library or bookstore should have a selection of books that can address the steps you need to take in detail. There are also directories of managers and agents who represent singers, whom you can contact as soon as you've developed your own unique style and sound.
Good luck to you,
~Kitty
