Question
I have a meeting coming up this week with a commercial talent agent.  They sent me an email requesting that I be prepared with a Commercial Copy (30 seconds or less).... are they speaking of a demo reel? I haven't heard of a Commercial Copy.  Thank you for your time and consideration.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer
They'll want you to find a copy of a commercial that presumably only has one part, and memorize it for your audition with them.  As most commercials are 30 seconds or less, you shouldn't have a problem finding something that appeals to you.  It's different than a cold read, where they would supply the copy and you'd read it on the spot.  There are places online where you can find commercial scripts, or you can just watch TV and jot down a commercial.  Since it's a commercial agency, they'll want to see that you understand commercial scripts - always put the focus on the product, and make sure your audience wants/needs it.
Good luck to you,
~Kitty

I can answer questions from those looking to get into the fashion or commercial modeling industry. Specifically, the requirements, what is needed, how to find an agent, what they look for, how to avoid scams, the difference between what a commercial model does, and a fashion model, would travel/relocation be required, what is on a comp card and in your portfolio.

Experience

Both my acting and modeling resume/portfolio is available online on my website. I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and also have available my actor's demo reel and voice-over demo online. I founded both the Florida-Models.com and Florida-Actors.com websites, which provide free modeling and acting info to the public. I have moved into directing, producing and screenwriting - and have won awards for my writing. I have worked in the industry as both a model and actress in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles until October 2007. I now reside in Europe.
