Question
Hello Doc,for many years I have denied to myself the fact that deep down inside I want to be an actor.  For the past year I was in school for Digital Movie Production, I recently took a semester off and decided to take acting classes.  I just started and it's going great.  I am studying method acting as well as cold reading monologues right now.  My question to you is how old is too old to break into acting and once I have some classes under my belt how should I look for an agency.  I currently live in Tampa, FL.  Thanks Doc.

Answer
There are always character roles and far fewer character actors than leading types, so it is never too late to become an actor if that is what you want to do.  I started when I was 40, Paul Ford was 50.  I would like to know more about your classes since I think method acting is a fraud and you never have to cold read a monologue.  Tampa may not be the greatest place to break into professional acting.  It seems you need a little guidance, which is what I do.  I mentor aspiring actors at no charge at kencosp@aol.com.  Contact me there if you'd like my assistance.  Doc
