QuestionQUESTION: I have always wanted to be an actress on Disney Channel since I was 4 years old. I am currently 14 and still wanting to be one. For what I have heard, you need an agent to be able to get auditions for Disney Channel. Is that right? How can I get an agent?
ANSWER: Occasionally there are auditions open to the general public for Disney TV shows, but generally, auditions are open only to professional actors and/or actors who have agency representation.
There are talent agency directories available in your local library, bookstore or online, and on newsstands in Los Angeles and New York City. You can use the directories to obtain contact information to the agencies closest to you. Most agencies nowadays also have websites, and often include information for new talent - what you will need to have to submit to them for consideration. Each agency is different, but they may ask you for an actors headshot and resume, and may also ask you to audition for them to be considered. But their website should have that info, or you can ask when you contact them.
Of course, if you are looking at agents who are not close to one of the Disney studios or filming locations, it's not likely that they will be able to get you auditions for shows filming in other places, particularly if the studios are far away.
Good luck to you,

QUESTION: Thanks, and I was also wondering... How is a good way to start acting? I live all the way in new jersey and I believe there may/should be something in new york. right? can you please help me? ive been asking my dad and he has no clue.
AnswerSince you're interested in television acting, you can look around your area for acting schools, classes or courses that can train you in on camera acting for television, or auditioning. New York has hundreds of agents, classes, schools etc., so if you can't find what you need around your local area, you can go up to New York, or look around the Philadelphia area where there are also quite a few agencies, as well as classes and training.
Good luck to you,
